Chicago Railfans is a new website aimed toward helping Chicago Area railfans in every situation one might need. The website features a forum, with everything from a General Discussion topic, to MSTS. In the Forum, we have a Special Trains and Locomotive section. Now you might be thinking, Why not just use IlliniRail? Well, we get the same information from the illinirail, and we update faster. Also, not everybody posts to illinirail, we have those sources and we want to share them with you.
A brand new Feature is Railfan Locations. Railfan Locations is where we cover in-depth the most visited locations in and around the Chicagoland Region. Many of our locations are busy, but some that are covered may also be unusual for those who want something different. Also covered is a brief history of each line, how many trains a day can be seen, and whether food and drinks are readily available. Also provided is a map of the location, color coded to match which railroads run in these locations. Scanner frequencies are also provided, should you find them necessary, many locations are busy enough to not need one at all.
In the Video Section. We will cover slightly less railfan news topics, such as derailments, track updates, new equipment, locomotive rebuilds...etc. Another item we will have is model railroading How-to. We currently have Ballparkfrank10 coming up with some custom weathering videos. Be Sure to Check those out!
